Define the website’s purpose before the design

SOVRA Digital starts with the business: what the company offers, why customers choose you and what visitors need to understand before deciding. This informs the page structure, copy, design and functionality.

The website should present the business clearly and credibly. Every page receives a defined purpose, and every interaction should help visitors understand, compare or make contact.

A website project with SOVRA Digital suits businesses that want their website to reflect the quality of their work and support customers’ decisions. This is particularly relevant when you need to:

  • explain an offer that is currently difficult to understand online,
  • bring content, design and technology together around the same business goal,
  • develop the website as a long-term part of sales.

If you need evidence for a decision before the website project, market analysis for market entry and pitch decks for investor conversations are available as separate engagements.

Which questions need their own page?

A customer question needs its own page when it has a distinct purpose that an existing page does not answer sufficiently. Other questions receive a clear answer in a section, table or list. SOVRA Digital uses this assessment, Query Deserves a Page (QDP), to plan where content belongs and how pages relate. More keywords do not automatically mean more pages.

For a smaller website project, the structure is limited to the 5–10 pages included in the quotation. A wider offer, more markets or additional languages may require a larger content plan. That scope is defined before production.

What is included in the website project?

The website project includes strategy, content, UX/UI design and development in Next.js on Vercel for 5–10 agreed pages. A contact form, a technical SEO foundation and two revision rounds are included. SOVRA Digital connects the pages’ content and contact channels to the business’s goals.

Technical foundation

Next.js on Vercel

Pre-rendered or server-rendered content according to the page’s needs, with optimisation of images, fonts and caching.

Hosting is paid for separately.

Why does SOVRA Digital choose Next.js?

Next.js lets SOVRA Digital combine server-rendered content with bespoke interfaces and flexible further development. WordPress can also work well. Quality depends on how the website is built, operated and maintained, not solely on the platform’s name.

Performance targets

How does SOVRA Digital approach website speed?

SOVRA Digital optimises the website towards Google’s thresholds for good Core Web Vitals. The aim is fast loading, responsive interactions and a layout that stays stable as content loads. Performance is tested before launch. A test result is distinguished from measurements of real visitors, which require enough data after launch.

LCPLoading
≤ 2.5 s
INPResponsiveness
≤ 200 ms
CLSStability
≤ 0,1

Google’s thresholds for good scores, assessed at the 75th percentile. Targets, not measured results or a guarantee. Devices, networks and third-party services affect the outcome. Read about the target values.

The timing and responsibility for the follow-up check are specified at handover. The guide to Core Web Vitals explains what the metrics show.

  1. Page structure and internal links

A clear purpose for each page, a logical heading hierarchy and relevant links between pages. The structure helps visitors find answers and take the next step.

    • QDP
    • Page structure
    • Search intent
  2. Technical SEO

Page titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs, a sitemap and checks on which pages should be crawlable and indexable.

    Schema
Relevant structured data in JSON-LD that matches the page’s visible content and the business’s confirmed information.
    Business details and NAP
A consistent business name, phone number and the address details intended for publication. LocalBusiness is used when the business and its information fit that type.
    • Metadata
    • Internal linking
    • Canonical
    • XML-sitemap
  3. Contact and mobile use

Responsive page templates, clear contact channels and checks on forms, keyboard use and agreed interactions.

    • Responsive page templates
    • Contact channels
    • Keyboard use
  4. Google Search Console

Setup or connection of Google Search Console for the business’s website, verification with the necessary permissions and sitemap submission once the website is accessible to Google.

    • GSC
    • Indexing
    • Search data
Scope based on need

The technical SEO foundation helps search engines find and interpret the content. A particular search position or indexing cannot be guaranteed. CMS, integrations, operations and maintenance are specified in the quotation. A custom interaction is included when it is an agreed part of the project.

How your website takes shape

You approve the direction before development. We agree on the pages, functions and responsibilities, then check the delivery against that scope.

  1. Preparation. We review your business, customers, existing content and required connections. You receive a defined scope and delivery plan.
  2. Structure and design. We plan the pages and contact routes, develop the copy and design, and gather your feedback before implementation.
  3. Development. We build in Next.js, adapt the layout for mobile and implement the agreed SEO foundation. You can review the website before launch.
  4. Launch. We check forms, keyboard use, mobile layout and performance, handle agreed redirects and document access and responsibilities.

AI support in the process. Clear responsibility for delivery.

SOVRA Digital uses AI to support analysis and production. The tools do not replace prioritisation, review or your approval. SOVRA Digital is responsible for keeping the work aligned with the project’s goals and agreed scope.

Does SOVRA Digital rebuild existing websites?

Yes. SOVRA Digital builds both new websites and improvements to existing ones. A review shows what can be retained and what needs to change in the structure, content, design and technology. The work may cover loading time, mobile responsiveness, enquiry journeys and agreed interactions.

UX/UI design around the visitor’s task

Here, UX work concerns how visitors find information and complete tasks on the website. UI design makes the structure, content and actions clear in the interface. SOVRA Digital connects the design to the agreed pages and functions and prepares it for your approval before development.

If the question concerns an existing contact route, conversion work may be the right starting point. For a new project, a website requirements specification helps you define what the website needs to do.

For a defined design engagement, explore Design and UX covering structure, interfaces and handover.

When the website needs more functionality

SOVRA Digital develops e-commerce solutions as defined projects. Product data, categories, payments and order journeys need to be planned together. The platform, integrations and responsibilities are agreed in the quotation; a new online store is not automatically included in the website project’s starting price.

For an existing store, SEO and conversion rate optimisation can be scoped as separate engagements. The GENTCREATE case study describes this kind of work across SEO, CRO and UX.

Can the website have several languages?

Yes. SOVRA Digital can build a website for several languages and markets. The solution covers agreed language versions, language selection, localised URLs and metadata, and hreflang linking corresponding pages. Content is adapted to each language and audience.

The number of languages, translation and total page scope are stated in the quotation. Additional languages or pages beyond the agreed scope are priced separately. Not every language and country combination needs its own page.

Examples of website projects

For NLL Måleri, the engagement included a new website, SEO, translation and conversion work. See NLL Måleri’s website and SEO project.

The case study’s search data concerns the combined engagement and does not isolate the effect of web design.

For other types of business, BA Trade’s wind power website project and the drone services website project show how services and contact routes have been structured.

When is a free website enough?

A free website tool can suit a simple information page or an idea you want to test. A business website needs more work when it must explain your offer, answer customer questions and support enquiries.

With SOVRA Digital, you pay for that work: preparation, page structure, content, bespoke design and development in Next.js. We refine typography, spacing and interactions, adapt the pages for mobile and check the agreed technical SEO foundation before launch.

These steps take time. With a free tool, you still need to plan the content, check the result and take responsibility for the website. Compare what is delivered, who is responsible and which ongoing costs remain.

How much does a website project cost at SOVRA Digital?

A website project starts at SEK 44,500 excluding VAT for 5–10 agreed pages and two revision rounds. Payment is split into 50 per cent after approval of the quotation, before work begins, and 50 per cent after approval of the deliverable.

How long does a website project take?

A defined website project takes from two weeks, with complete source material available at the agreed start date. The number of pages, integrations and review rounds affects the timetable. SOVRA Digital states the delivery plan in the quotation.

Editing, operation and responsibilities after launch

CMS, access, hosting and operation, and maintenance need to be described in the project quotation. It should be clear what you can change yourself, who handles technical changes and which costs apply after delivery.

What do you need to edit yourself?

Start with the content you actually need to update, such as services, prices, images or articles. The editing solution and its scope are defined within the project. A particular CMS or unlimited administration is not automatically included.

Which costs are outside the website project?

Domain and hosting costs are paid separately. Integrations and maintenance are scoped in the quotation. It states which ongoing services are needed and who is responsible for them.

What should the handover cover?

Before delivery, the parties need to agree on accounts, access, rights, documentation and responsibility for future changes. The project agreement should state what is included and when it will be handed over.

The technical solution needs to reflect who will edit the content, which functions are required and who is responsible for maintenance.

Clear requirements make it easier to agree the project’s boundaries. The guide to a website requirements specification explains which tasks, functions and responsibilities need to be described.

Choose ongoing SEO when there is a need

A new website project does not require an ongoing SEO agreement. If you want to continue developing content and organic visibility, SOVRA Digital can coordinate the project with ongoing SEO. The project and monthly work are priced separately.
